Intro to Programming & Robotics
This year long course includes hands-on experience in the field of computer science, robotics, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. Students start by creating and programming their own video games. Students design, build and program a variety of robots and micro-controllers. (Makeblock, microbit, rasberry pi, and arduino). The students incorporates 3-D design, mechanical construction, electronics, and programming into their projects.
This course is articulated with the Diablo Valley College course Introduction to Robotics (Electronics 107). Students who pass the class with an A or B and pass the final exam will receive 2 units of college credit that is transferable to UC and state colleges. See: http://www.dvc.edu/academics/cte-pdfs/electricalelectronics-info.pdf
Students in the class may join the robotics team where they can compete against other schools (www.roborave.org) or display their creations at local events (beniciamakerfaire.com).
Intro to Engineering and Architecture
This year long course allows students explore careers related to the field of
architecture and engineering. Students incorporate drafting, computer aided design, and model building into their projects. This course fulfills the UC "F" Fine Arts requirement.
This course is articulated with the Diablo Valley College course Introduction to Technical Drawing (Engineering 119 or Architecture 119). Students who pass the class with an A or B and pass the final exam will receive 3 units of college credit that is transferable to UC and state colleges.
